My Big Bang !

The Big Bang is the first-year student orientation that our HBP seniors arranged for us.
It started on Friday afternoon until Sunday night.

Friday:

It all started with a futsal match between our HBP lecturers and the students.
This are the shoots I managed to capture in the chaos of cheers.

The pictures will tell you a thousand words

I wonder what they're looking at @.O

The ladies futsal team
Saturday:
Morning-
We gathered in HBP Dataran Merah, this early morning, and we are given:
straws, plastic bags, nylon string, old newspaper, an egg together with a task:
To create a 'Soft Landing' which enable us to release the egg given from 3rd floor and making sure that the egg has no one single crack.

Again, the pictures shall tells you a thousand words,
from the preparation process of the 'Soft Landing'....

... demo part...

It was fun with all the loud cheers and spirits!

Night-
This is, according to out seniors, the most exciting part out of the whole orientation programs.
EXPLO-RACE, in the night time, a rainy night.

We went through 8 different pit stops where we were given different clues for the next destinations.
Team work have to be shown in order to complete our tasks in time.
Intellectual and skills are one of the keys as well...

Sunday:
We're in the preparation of our Grand Dinner tonight.
All groups are given a title to prepare a performance for tonight's dinner.
All titles are based on the theme 'Metamorphosis'.
My group is with the title 'Movie Metamorphosis'.
We planned to have different era's cartoon as representative of the development of the cartoons in different years.
We have chosen 'Snow White' the oldest Disney Princess, coming up with 'Cinderella', 'Peter Pan', and the latest cartoon favorited by the children, 'Ipin & Upin'.

We enjoyed the dinner while having our barbecue chicken as our dinner that night.
Our orientation shall ends with performances from all first-year students as well as the seniors.
I believed everyone had a great time chit-chatting, cheering and the most inportant part i knowing new friends and seniors.

Thank You...

RUS 101 Integrated Studio I

RUS 101 Integrated Studio I
Monday 6 July 2009

6th July 2009.
Shall be a memorable day for me, as I am, now, an Architecture student, in University Sains Malaysia.
So far I have dream for this moment. So long I have hope for it to come.
And now, here I am. Sitting in the lecture hall. All ready for my very first lecture as an Architecture student.
The feeling is rather somewhere between excited and peaceful.
Excited, in the way that I am curious of what will approach next.
Peaceful, in the way I wonder, I am already here...

Lecture started by introduction on 'Reading & Documenting' by our Studiomaster, CikWan.

We were assigned Project 1A myHOME, which is to have our own home page on the website, to illustrate what we have understood through out the class.

We've been told, the 'TOOLS' to carry out Reading & Documenting are as such:
1. Document
2. Communication
3. Design
4. Construct
5. Serve

We have also come across this series of flow which illustrate:

Intention -> Act -> Product

Actors -> Rules -> Site

The ability of human beings to have INTENTION has helped us evolve ACTion as which will bring us towards the PRODUCT. This ability urges the ACTORS to go with a flow of the RULES, on the desired chosen SITE, and which to build up the final PRODUCT.

From here I shall be reminded, we were here, to be trained, to develop our creativity and perception through a design process, developing concepts, apply principles and solves problems, finally successfully communicate our design ideas.

I was again reminded by the lecturer that, an Architect, who would be working in a field of Housing, Building and Planning, works doesn't only come in between sketches of buildings and houses. We have to take in the concern about our intention in developing our concepts and creativity, following up with we, as an architect, the person that take up actions, following the rules and regulation, to choose a perfect site, and to finally bring up our products.
This is the route we all have to go through in order to get to our product, our final goal.

The lecture follows up by Project Grouping.
We were grouped under 10 different Studiomasters for our follow coming 10 projects and assessments.

We continued our lecture with Pro. CikWan on the issue 'ORIGINALITY'.
Originality is the aspect of created or invented works as being a new product.
An original product is one not received nor copied from others.
It MUST be distinguished from reproduction and clones.
Originality is respected to intellectual property, together with creativity and invention, as a copyright work.

No one on this earth would want his/her intellectual work to be 'conquer' by others.
No one would willing to see their invention product to be named under others.
So we are taught we're supposed to respect others intellectual properties, by not copying, clone or derive other people's work.
They belong to their master, not us.

During the afternoon, we have a special sessions with our HBP seniors, which is called " My Big Bang! ".
We were informed that we will be having our HBP orietation session which will be held from 9-12 July 2009.
We'll be looking forward to know all our seniors and newbies in HBP school, so will be able to come out with a better cooperation and evolve better connection to aid in our future study life in HBP school.

Our " My Big Bang! " continued on 09 July, in USM Futsal field.
Students are grouped into 2 girls groups and 2 guys groups, and then, the competition starts.
We can see our seniors and newbies in real action, and we, as the 'cheer person' were busy capturing action scenes beside the field.

Tomorrow is soon to come...
We shall see what tomorrow is ready for us...

See you guys in the next lecture !
